Worcestershire town some ten miles south of central Birmingham, surrounded by countryside, and with the River Arrow passing through the town in a valley park. Redditch had its own specialised industry: making needles. An old forge mill has been safeguarded with all the working machinery as a special museum. The town was expanded and redeveloped as a new town between 1964 and 1985.
