The lovely market town of East Grinstead, on the edge of Ashdown Forest, dates back to the early 13th century. The High Street has buildings of medieval origin and is now a centre for speciality shopping. The town itself contains many ancient buildings and is surrounded by unspoilt countryside with magnificent views.
