Arundel - Situated close to the mid point of the South Downs, Arundel overlooks the River Arun, four miles inland from its mouth at Littlehampton. The town is dominated by Arundel Castle, established at the time of the Norman conquest, and home to the Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal of England since the 1500s.
The narrow streets of the town has antique shops, craft shops, tea rooms and restaurants. The Port of Arundel, which was still operating at the beginning of the 20th Century was mentioned in the Norman Doomsday Survey. The Wey-Arun canal, that linked the Rivers Wey & Arun allowed goods to be shipped on barges to and from London. Nearby attractions include the Wildfowl Trust reserve by the River Arun and an interesting open- air industrial history museum at Amberley to the north.
Billingshurst - Billingshurst is a lively and thriving small town on the A29 Horsham to Bognor road. Although the road itself is the old Roman Stane Street, Billingshurst boasts a variety of developments dating from the 15th century to the present day.
The parish church of St Mary, whose spire dominates the skyline of Billingshurst and the surrounding country, traces its origins back to the 13th century and the Unitarian church, built in 1754, is one of the oldest in the south.
Just north of Billingshurst is Summers Place, a beautiful residence which is now the home of Southeby`s Auctioneers. Nearby is Petworth with a very large National Trust mansion and deer park.

Henfield - Village with interesting high street, and a famous common located north of the South Downs. There is a town museum, and nearby the Woods Mill countryside centre.
Midhurst - Historic Sussex market town somewhat larger than neighbouring Petworth. Midhurst has a rich heritage of half timbered buildings, 17th and 18th century houses, shops and pubs.
Petworth - Historic Sussex market town somewhat smaller than neighbouring Midhurst. Retains its ancient charm and historic buildings. With its many antique shops is a fitting backdrop to the magnificent 17th century Petworth House.
Pulborough - Attractive mid-Sussex village by the River Arun, popular with fishermen and good for boating. Riverside marshes are RSPB reserve excellent for over-wintering wildfowl. Close by is Elizabethan Parham House with fine gardens and deer park little changed in almost five centuries.
Steyning - Prosperous small and ancient town, just to the north of the South Downs, a few miles inland from Worthing. There is a local viewpoint over the Adur Valley and other celebrated viewpoints nearby on the Downs include Cissbury Ring and Chanctonbury Ring.
