Stratford-upon-Avon lies 8 mile south-west of Warwick. Famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare, it is a very popular place with tourists, with the house where the playwright was born being a highly-visited attraction. Also preserved in the area are Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Hall’s Croft (lived in by Shakespeare’s daughter and son-in-law), Mary Arden’s House (Mary Arden was Shakespeare’s mother) and Nash’s House.

As well as being able to visit the beautiful properties associated with Shakespeare, one can take in one of his plays as the town is the home of the Royal Shakespeare Company. However there are many things to do in Stratford besides immersing oneself in Shakespeare. The town is also home to a Butterfly Farm, a Teddy Bear Museum, a Shire Horse Centre and Cox’s Yard, which combines exhibits on the history of Stratford with a micro-brewery and a restaurant.
