Thatchers Essex

Thank you for taking the time to view my web page. Firstly a little history about myself.

I first started thatching in 1989 when I was lucky to find a local thatcher to take me on as an apprentice, where I spent 5 years learning all aspects of the trade. I was employed by him until 1994 when I became self employed and continued to work for the same thatcher for a further year after which time I worked for some other thatchers Essex to learn different ways to thatch.

I felt that this would give me a better understanding of the industry and allow me to find the technique that suited me best. Since 1996 I have been undertaking my own work and have therefore got a wide portfolio of roofs which can be viewed.

My aim in this business is to do the best quality roof I possibly can, at a reasonable cost to the customer. I always try to complete a roof to the customers' satisfaction and if the customer is not happy with any aspect of the roof I will always try to adjust anything they are not happy with, as long as I feel that this will not compromise the longevity of the roof.

When I finish a contract I like to think that I leave as friends with the owner, and would always be welcome back for a cup of tea if I am passing. The advice that I give is based on what I would do if it were my roof, as I feel that this is the best advice I can give.

I tend to work in north Essex, Cambridgeshire, Herts. and Suffolk although I am happy to travel where-ever the enquiries come from. There are a few examples of my thatchers Essex work although I have a list of properties that can be viewed in the flesh.

I am well practiced in both traditional long straw and water reed thatching which are the main approved materials for thatching in Essex and indeed throughout East Anglia.
