Stafford

Stafford is reknowned for its breath taking countryside, which attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every year. The town gave its name to the county of Staffordshire over 1000 years ago and it was at this time that Ethelfleda, Queen of Mercia, turned Stafford into a fortress to repel Danish invaders. Today many ancient homes are scattered throughout the borough. Stafford Castle is one of the town’s most well known attractions, but there are also a number of historical churches and cathedrals in the area.

Stafford holds many attractions including, Alton Towers, The Wedgewood Visitors Centre, and the Royal Hunting Forest, however the town’s historic Market Square still forms the focus of a thriving and commercial centre.
