An attractive town with an historic six day a week market, dating back to the 12th century.

The town centre features a mix of buildings which date from the 17th century and earlier, together with award winning floral displays.

Much of the town's history can be traced through the Borough Museum and Art Gallery in leafy Brampton Park - just a short walk from the town centre.

Easy access to the M6 and the A500 has helped with recent economic development in the Borough.

Just north of the town centre is the Keele University campus and it's developing Science Park. Further north is the market town of Kidsgrove which is starting to see major development to improve shopping facilities.
