With its earliest settlements dating back to the Iron Age, Sheffield has been a prominent town in England for centuries. Perhaps now most famous for its industrial heritage - for which there are a number of dedicated museums - the city of Sheffield entered the limelight in recent years due to the extremely successful film ‘The Full Monty’. Steel production is still important in the city, with Sheffield cutlery being well known across the country.

However, Sheffield has many other attractions to offer aside from those linked to its past. Why not spend a day touring its art galleries, rounded off with an evening at one of its fabulous theatres. Alternatively, if you prefer the great outdoors, why not visit the Botanical Gardens or the beautiful Peak District, which is within easy driving distance.

As the first city to be awarded the title National City of Sport by the Sports Council, Sheffield has much to offer to the sport addict. As well as Sheffield Ski Village, Europe’s largest artificial ski resort, the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in its own words offers ‘something for everyone’, including a tropical leisure pool and the opportunity to learn jujitsu!
