East Kilbride

Situated only 10 miles away from Glasgow, Kilbride (meaning the church of St Bride), was only a small rural village with a minor weaving industry, until the development of the New Town in the 1940's. There are still traces of the old village, but East Kilbride as it is now known, is the sixth largest town in Scotland with a population of over 80,000.

The new town boasts a large shopping centre, retail parks, Golf courses, a new Heritage Loch, nature reserve, aqua centre, multi-screen cinema and industrial centres which include companies such as Rolls Royce, Motarola and Scottish Nuclear.
