Major town on Scotland's west coast. The centre for touring the Burns country. A popular summer resort with a sandy beach and magnificent sea-views. On a clear day Ireland may be seen on the horizon, as well as the nearer Arran and Ailsa Craig. In the High Street is the Tam o'Shanter" inn, with a Burns Museum and further north the "Auld Brig". At Alloway, two miles south, is Burns' cottage and the Brig o'Doon; also the Kirk. Golf, and racecourse.
