Erskine - Situated on the north west outskirts of Glasgow, the main feature of the town is Erskine Bridge constructed in 1971. This replaced the car-ferry port that took traffic over to Old Kilpatrick. Erskine House is now a hospital for disabled ex-servicemen, originally built for Lord Blantyre. Johnstone - Primarily built to house mining and engineering workers. The town saw a dramatic population increase during the early 19th century. Lochwinnoch - A small town that lies on Castle Semple Loch, surrounded by country parks and leisure facilities. These parks include the Castle Semple Country Park and the RSPB reserve in Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. Weaving and bleaching were once the main trades in the area. Renfrew - Having becoming a Royal Burgh in 1396, by 1613 the town had established itself as the busiest port on the River Clyde. The 19th century saw the completion of the first ship-building yard amongst other public buildings. Boiler making, engineering and cable manufacturing are now some of the main industries. Inchinnan Church has a fascinating churchyard that contains tombs of the Templars and mortsafes. These were used to foil body-snatchers once placed over graves.
