Towcester - Claiming to be one of the oldest towns, Towcester, in south west of Northampton was the Roman town of Lachodorum. Medieval market town on Watling Street. The 13th century church has interesting chained books. The Saracen's Head Inn features in Mr. Pickwick. Towcester race course is in grounds of great house Easton Neston. Silverstone motor racing circuit and waterways museum at Stoke Bruerne are both nearby. Wellingborough - Wellingborough is situated in the heart of rural England and is often used as a tourist base in which to visit the nearby attractions at Oxford and Cambridge. The annual Waendel walk in Wellingbourgh celebrates it’s Anglo-Saxon in origins, however there is evidence of prehistoric, roman and Viking occupation in the town and in the last century the town was known for it’s great malting and brewing tradition. Wellingborough is just one of the many charming villages that is rich in history with winding country lanes, waterways and country estates and historic houses to view in the county of Northamptonshire.
