Welcome to Norwich's Townpage

Norwich grew from a collection of Anglo-Saxon settlements. In medieval times it developed into a large walled town, with the Norman Keep providing a stronghold. The Cathedral was built over a period of nearly 200 years, and has a fine Norman nave as well as over 1,000 sculptured roof bosses. More than 30 medieval churches inside the city walls have survived, from a total of over 50 that were originally built then. Some of these have been converted to other uses, as have other ancient buildings, including the 15th century Guildhall, which is now used for the Tourist Information Centre.

As well as exploring the city, there are many things to see and do in Norwich. To the north is the City of Norwich Aviation Museum, or you could visit the Victorian Plantation Garden. Young and old visitors alike will enjoy INSPIRE – Norwich’s Hands-on Science Centre. Slightly further afield are the Norfolk Broads which are well worth exploring.
