Bridgend town guide.

Caerphilly - To the north of Cardiff.This market-town is mainly renowned for its magnificent castle, which is the largest in Wales, occupying in all thirty acres. One of the towers leans over, and the Great Hall has been re-roofed. It was built soon after the Norman Conquest. Town also famous for its cheese, but this is now made elsewhere.

Maesteg - Situated in the Llynfi Valley, Maestag is primarily an industrial town surrounded by hills.

Pontypridd - Twelve miles north west of Cardiff. At the junction of the Taff and Rhondda, the former of which is spanned by a stone bridge built by a local stonemason in 1755. This bridge has a single span of 140 feet in the shape of an arc which rises 35 feet above the water. It was for some time the longest single span bridge in the country. Town speciality was making chains, even gigantic ones for the Cunard ‘Queen'. Historical Centre Museum and Rhondda Heritage Centre.

Porthcawl - Resort on the coast west of Bridgend, to the east is the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. Resort which can suit all tastes with entertainments as well as quiet beaches.
