Southport is situated on the southern side of the Ribble Estuary, opposite Blackpool. This pleasant seaside town has many great things to see and do, whether you want to lounge on the beach or absorb some cultural experiences.

One thing Southport is well-known for is its many golf courses. With some fine coastal courses, a round is a very enjoyable way to pass the afternoon. If you would prefer to spend some time on the beach, there are numerous interesting species of flora and fauna to see in the wildlife reserve, or you could take a look at the pier, for which renovation is being planned. Just by the beach is Pleasureland, a theme park with lots of exciting rides.

For a more soothing afternoon, why not visit Southport Model Village. The 1.5 acre site has many attractive model buildings, and a miniature railway. Alternatively you may prefer to stroll around the town itself and take advantage of the shopping facilities, and with an arts centre, a cinema and more, you will never be short of something to do.
