Folkestone This popular seaside resort is situated about ten miles from Dover on the Kent coast with access to London via the M20, and Europe via the To the east lies the Warren; an Area of Outstanding Beauty, and a noted habitat of hundreds of trees, rare birds and fossils, where recently the remains of two Roman villas were excavated. Inside the areas early English parish Church of Saint Mary and Eanswith, is an aisle commemorated to William Harvey, physician to James I, who first discovered the circulation of blood, and was born in the area in 1578. Other nearby historical attractions include Anne of Cleves House, Norman built Lewes Castle and Sandgate Castle, erected by Henry VIII. Today Folkestone remains a fishing town where local catches are brought back and sold at the fishing market, and offers a whole host of attractions, with many places to explore and great days out for all.
