Bromyard - A small medieval market town (between Hereford and Worcester) of crooked streets set among the hills. A good Norman church. Heritage Centre and nearby is very fine picturesque black and white Manor House, Lower Brockhampton Hall.

Ledbury - Twelve miles east of Hereford. A happy old-world town on the Malvern Hills. The 17th century Market Hall stands on I6 chestnut pillars. There are picturesque half-timbered houses, notably Ledbury House. A Grammar School dates from Edward VI's reign. Heritage Centre and Folk Museum. Nearby attractions include Herefordshire Beacon on top of hill with Iron Age hill fort and superb views. Leominster - Twelve miles north of Hereford. A very ancient and picturesque town, celebrated in the past for its fine spun wool, standing at the junction of the Pinsley and Lug, which has been in existence since A.D. 658. It was burnt by the Britons in 777. Mainly famous for its gabled I7th century Butter Market or Grange House, standing on twelve pillars, one of the finest timbered houses in the country. The Priory Church has a fine window. Folk Museum. Ross-On-Wye - Sixteen miles west of Gloucester. A very pretty little town built high on a rock above the Wye. Opposite the Market Hall, built in the reign of Charles II, is the house of the Man of Ross, John Kyrle, the local philanthropist who was praised by Pope. The church has good Kyrle monuments. He gave the town its first public water supply and another gift to the town was the Prospect, from which can be seen the glorious horse-shoe bend of the Wye Valley.
