Orpington Orpington is situated in Bromley, the largest of the 32 London Borough’s, even though its postal address is in Kent. During the Second World War the town suffered grievously as part of Bomb Alley but since then, has become a popular residential area for businessmen who commute to the City. The town’s proximity to London means it close to many attractions and features of interest. Families will enjoy the animal farms which are particularly popular with children, as will be the many leisure centres. Places of historical interest include Bromley Museum, which is housed in Orpington Priory, a medieval clergy house, which has displays of local pieces dating back to prehistoric times, and nearby Crofton Roman Villa has the remains of 10 rooms, and displays about the site's excavation. If you like the outdoor life, there are many opportunities to enjoy the countryside including the famous chalk caves and tunnels at Chistlehurst, or in one of the beautiful parks or scenic woods dotted around the borough.
