Welcome to Harrow's Townpage

Harrow borough is situated to the north west of Greater London. It is a very ‘green’ borough, with many parks and open spaces. However there is also a thriving business community and a wide range of shops and facilities.

Perhaps familiar to most people because of Harrow School, the word Harrow is Anglo-Saxon for ‘sacred grove’ or ‘temple’. It is believed that there may have been such a place on top of Harrow-on-the-Hill, which is currently home to the aforementioned school and to St Mary’s Church, which dates back over 900 years. Also of interest in the borough is the Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre, where you can see the historic, moated Headstone Manor and a 16th century tithe barn.

Towns and villages in the borough include Pinner, Headstone, Kenton, Stanmore, Belmont, Hatch End and Harrow. The following postcode areas are covered: HA1, HA2, HA5 and HA7. The local council is Harrow Borough Council, Civic Centre, Harrow HA1 2XF, Tel: 020 8863 5611.
