Kingswood Kingswood is situated in south gloucestershire close to the historic cities of Bath and Bristol. The small town was originially a forest and royal domain of the saxon kings, when in 940 King Edmund was assassinated. By the thirteenth century Kingswood was an agricultural and coal mining town and it is believed that owing to the nature of these works and demand for heavy footwear, boot and shoe manufacturing became the third major industry of the town, which by the late seventeenth century had become a cottage industry carried out by colliers. This historic town is steeped in history and there are a great number of historic houses and castles in the area, which include Badminton House, Kingswood Abbey, and even the Roman Baths. The town has number of leisure facilities and is close to the famous Castlecombe Racing Circuit, The Cotswold Wildlife Park and many museums, offering much to do in Kingswood and the surrounding area.
