Kirkcaldy On the Firth of Forth. A large town and seaport at which linoleum was made. Other industries of the town have included linen-weaving, engineering and coal-mining. Famous for the Wemyss pottery which was located here. Both the designer Robert Adam, and Adam Smith, the economist, were born in Kirkaldy. Ravenscraig Castle, is on a high rock, and was built by James II in 1460, designed to withstand artillery. The town has a fine museum and art gallery. There is a Burne-Jones window in St. Brycedale Church.
