The second oldest Borough in England, six miles east of Torquay. A picturesque little town on the Dart. In the High Street, some old houses have projecting upper floors, supported on pillars. The Brutus Stone is one of the oldest memorials in Britain, on which Legend says the Trojan stood before founding the town and the British race. Pleasure cruises on River Dart and steam railway up to Buckfastleigh. Nearby is Dartington Hall, famous arts centre. One of the best centres for exploring Dartmoor.
