I have been in practice for over 25 years, and am a Relate Certified Couple Counsellor and hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling. I have trained to work with aspergers and how it affects relationships.

Counselling offers the opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a confidential setting.

I do not claim to have a magic ‘cure all’ but I do know “if you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got” Our first appointment is exploratory for us both, for I strongly believe that good therapy is rooted in the relationship between the Counsellor and the Client. I am often asked how many sessions’ people will need and all I can say is once the counselling begins the initial eight sessions can bring about significant change.

The Chinese word for crisis is the same word as opportunity and I see Counselling as the opportunity for change. Problems in relationships can be caused by a variety of issues; it can be the birth of a baby, illness, redundancy, an affair, and children leaving home, death of a parent, depression or retirement. All of these changes in events cause stress and we all have different ways of handling problems.

As a counsellor I work as an interpreter often exploring and explaining why you feel like you feel and working through how those affect feelings and behaviour. Counselling cannot alter anyone’s history but it can help make sense of it. By understanding ourselves better changes can be made.

I practise at 40 Wilbury Road, Hove where I am able to offer a professional comfortable environment for couple counselling Brighton and other services.
