The Valley Trust provides Counselling Advice Guildford for children and parents. Many of our clients have lived through family separation or divorce, however we have many clients who present with other issues such as relationship breakdown, bereavement, anger issues, self esteem, self image and bullying to mention a few.

With so many children affected by separation and divorce, schools are finding that counselling can play a very effective role as part of the pastoral care system.

The School Counselling Service helps schools achieve the objectives set out in the ‘Every Child Matters Agenda’ The service presently operates in a number of Infant, Junior and Secondary Schools throughout Surrey and Hampshire. Counsellors receive regular supervision and training form VT and are qualified and experienced to work with the specific age ranges within the school. We employ play therapists in addition to counsellors and child psychotherapists. The cost for the school service is £35.50 an hour.

Our services are highly flexible and designed to suit the individual. For those who refer into the VT office the cost is £40 a session. There is a sliding scale for fees according to Family Income. A reduced payment is applicable for those on benefit and this can be discussed with the Manager when the referral is made.

We understand how difficult it can be to make the first contact, to help make this process as available as possible, we accept open referrals. Referrals come in from individuals, parents and carers, social services and other agencies.
