Wrexham Although in an industrial district, this is a pleasant town, twelve miles south of Chester. Traditional industry was tanning, but there are industrial heritage centres related to coal, steel and brickmaking, etc. The Church of St. Giles is a very fine specimen of Perpendicular architecture, with a magnificent and unique tower, decorated with figures. In the churchyard is the grave of Elihu Yale, son of one of the Pilgrim Fathers, after whom Yale University was named. Nearby is the classic upstairs/downstairs house Erddig a superb 17th century mansion with parkland.
