Sixteen miles east of Oxford. An attractive town beneath the Chilterns, where the Black Prince had a palace. There is an old Manor House, and the King's Head is a 15th century inn. White Leaf Cross is a white cross measuring 80 feet by 70 feet, cut in the turf on the hillside above the town. Near here is Chequers, the Tudor country home for the Prime Ministers. Nearby on the top of the Chilterns runs the Ridgeway.
