Milton Keynes is a very modern town situated in North Buckinghamshire. The idea for the town was dreamt up in the late 1960s, with the intention being to create somewhere that was both car and pedestrian-friendly. The result is a well-structured and accessible blend of businesses and homes, and the old villages and towns have been carefully incorporated into the scheme. In addition to individual outlets, there is an enormous shopping centre with over 200 shops, as well as a range of facilities.

In the autumn of 1999, a fantastic new theatre and gallery was completed in the town. Offering art exhibitions, plays and musicals, it is an excellent place to experience modern culture. Just open is the Xscape complex, with a ski centre, 16 screen cinema complex and an entertainment centre.

Despite it being such a new town, there is still much of historical interest in the area. Perhaps the most famous building would have to be Bletchley Park, home to the government code breakers during the Second World War.
