Twelve miles north east of Reading. A lovely town on one of the reaches of the Thames. Shelley lived at Shelley House and wrote The Revolt of Islam " here. A favourite resort of anglers and riverside lovers. Regatta held in June. Nearby at Cookham is the home of the artist Stanley Spencer and a gallery of his paintings. The woods near Marlow may have been the inspiration for part of 'The Wind in the Willows'
