High Wycombe A flourishing town devoted to the manufacture of chairs. The church is large and interesting, with a monument to the first Lord Shelburne, who owned nearby Wycombe Abbey. In the grounds of a Norman Castle there is a museum on the town's local history and the chairmaking industry. Two miles north is West Wycombe, a lovely unspoilt medieval village, standing below a strange church built by the eccentric Lord de Despenser.
